Biography

Caleb Derven is Head of Digital Scholarship & Systems at the University of Limerick, where he has overall responsibility for library systems and infrastructures. Additionally, Caleb is in charge of the Library’s digital services, including the digital library, the institutional repository and other services related to digital scholarship.

Caleb is the Co-Chair of Ireland’s national Open Research Forum (NORF) Infrastructure Working Group, as well as the Co-Chair for LIBER’s Digital Scholarship and Digital Cultural Heritage Working Group. Chairing the CONUL Research Group from April 2020 through May 2021, Caleb was instrumental in setting up the Digital Scholarship Network Ireland. Before coming to UL, Caleb worked at the New York State Archives, the New York State Library and University College Dublin.

Caleb has been an active participant in the international open repository software community. He holds a BA in Classics/ Comparative Literature from Columbia University, an M.Phil in Anglo-Irish Literature from Trinity College Dublin, an MLIS from the University at Albany and  an MA in Digital Humanities from Maynooth University.
