Biography

Dr. Jim Rogers is Associate Professor of Communications and Chair of PhD Studies at the School of Communications, DCU. His research primarily focuses on the political economy of the media, with particular emphasis on music and copyright. He is the author of three books – The Death and Life of the Music Industry in the Digital Age (Bloomsbury, 2013), A Critical Guide to Intellectual Property (w/Mat Callahan, Zed Books, (2017), and Sounds Irish, Acts Global: Explaining the Success of Ireland’s Popular Music Industry (w/Michael Murphy, Equinox Publishers, 2023). Additionally, his work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals such as the International Communication Gazette, the European Journal of Communication, Journalism and Practice, Observatorio and others, as well as numerous edited (book) collections.
